Election Commission to be strict on looters amidst ballot

Election Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said he is not of capability to proceed for the ‘shoot in the head’ action against those who attempt to loot ballot boxes, and the opinion of the other two members of the Commission should be sought, was the action to be proceeded this time.

“Police will be acting in this regard. Unlike before, I cannot make sole comments about the situation. Because there are three of us. All three should be discussing on where to shoot if it ever occurs.

Should we proceed for shooting.. it may be on the count of ten. It should be instant, was any life in danger. Anyone who comes to carry ballot boxes is advised not to carry them first. This will not be done as how looters are shot in the streets,” he said, in response to a reporter during his address before the press on Saturday (25).
