The Lakvijaya Power Plant in Norochcholai shut down. Erratic outages likely to occur for 4 days
The Lakvijaya Power Plant in Norochcholai has been completely shut down from supplying power to the national grid due to a technical fault occurred in the cooling system since the unexpected outage yesterday (17), CEB spokesman Sulakshana Jayawardena said.
Accordingly, electricity at a capacity of 810 megawatts has been lost to the national grid, he revealed.
This might lead to erratic outages in several areas of the island, as it may require about four days until the cooling system is repaired and the full capacity is restored, he added.
