Agriculture minister says there is no room for food shortage
COLOMBO: Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage says that some university lecturers are trying to spread the misconception that there will be a food shortage in this country.
He said that the people are currently enjoying the paddy harvest of the last Yala Season and there is no room for a food shortage as the harvest of the Maha Season is yet to be harvested.
He was speaking at an event held at the Mahaweli Reach Hotel in Kandy.
He said that a lecturer at the University of Peradeniya, who is a director of a chemical fertilizer company, had stated that there would be a food shortage in the country.
The Minister said that there would not be a food shortage in the country.
