Maha Shivaratri Day message from PM Mahinda Rajapaksa

COLOMBO: “May all aspirations of all Sri Lankan Hindus who are fasting on the night of Maha Shiva Rathri come true,” Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said in a message.

The message added: “Spirituality is fundamental to a prosperous life in any religion. Fasting on the night of Lord Shiva is a spiritually sacred ritual for all Hindus seeking liberation.

Hindus believe that this sacred ritual will release to them the spiritual power of God. Maha Shiva Rathri is day to wish prosperity in life.

Today, Hindus believe that worshipping together can bring many benefits . By working together with different ethnicities and religions, you have the opportunity to create a better future for yourself as well as the country. It is my belief that fasting on the night of Maha Shiva Rathri is very important to properly achieve the aspirations of living for such a strong future.

You wish light to a life shrouded in darkness as you wish happiness to a saddned heart on a day such as this.”
