Jaffna development: Big responsibility on my shoulders, says Angajan Ramanathan
Jaffna MP Angajan Ramanathan on Tuesday assumed duties as the co-chairman of the District Coordinating Committee of the Jaffna District Secretariat.
“I reiterated in my speech that this task is a big responsibility that has been placed on my shoulders, which I will perform to the best of my abilities,” @AngajanR said in a Twitter post.
In a separate live video interview to Globe Tamil on Tuesday, the MP denied any dispute with Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda over Jaffna development matters as claimed in some news reports.
His comments follow a claim in Colombo’s Sunday Times that “fissures have developed between two MPs of the government side” in Jaffna.
The MP has also announced a meeting on Wednesday with the people (Makkal Santhippu).
Addressing Parliament on Aug. 28, he thanked the people for electing him with the highest number of preferential votes in the north.
He is also the deputy chairman of committees of Sri Lanka Parliament and presided over some sessions in the assembly last month.
