MPs to debate 20th amendment on Oct. 21 and 22
COLOMBO: The 20th amendment to Sri Lankan constitution will be debated in Parliament on Oct. 21 and 22, officials said.
Sittings of Parliament will take place from 10 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. on the two days, according to the official Twitter account of Parliament.
The determination of the Supreme Court on the 20th Amendment is expected to be read in Parliament on Oct. 20.
The announcement came as opposition politicians said the government had given more prominence to the 20th amendment rather than the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to reports, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Colombo district MP Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe has submitted a 09-page letter to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa with regard to his concerns on the 20th Amendment.
