PM Rajapaksa at Temple Trees Navaratri celebrations

COLOMBO: Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa celebrated Navaratri at the Temple Trees on Wednesday.

He reiterated the importance of religious virtues and unity among all communities in Sri Lanka.

The prime minister said on Twitter: “Celebrated #Navaratri at Temple Trees last evening amidst family, friends and colleagues, whilst adhering to the health guidelines. May evil and darkness be defeated and may peace, prosperity and good health bless us all.”

In another tweet a few days ago, he announced a donation of Rs.50,000 to 40 Hindu Kovils around Sri Lanka as part of Navaratri observances.

“Concurrent to the Navaratri festival, as the Minister of Religious Affairs, a donation of Rs.50,000 was made to 40 Hindu Kovils around Sri Lanka to promote unity & diversity. I urge our Hindu brethren to partake in celebrations bearing in mind the guidelines provided by @MoH_SriLanka,” he said on Twitter.
