Mano Ganesan allays concerns of Colombo residents

COLOMBO: MP Mano Ganesan says that Police is collecting personal details visiting houses in Colombo.

As per the MP, upon inquiry, a police officer has informed that it’s been done after the ‘Aragalaya’ activists.

Taking to Twitter, the Colombo District MP said that he cannot agree with the process and informed his people not to furnish such information.

He said that such sensitive information at times can end up wrong hands.

“Though police ordinance has room, there should be a moratorium of use during normalcy. This is peacetime. There can’t be unusual activity as such,” he said.

“Is it a Police-State? I inquired from police minister Tiran Alles. He promptly said he doesn’t know any such activity,” hje added in his tweet.
