Industrial, energy stock losses hurt CSE All-Share index
COLOMBO: Sri Lankan shares closed lower on Friday, hurt by losses in industrial and energy stocks.
The CSE All-Share index closed 0.84% lower at 8,728.60, exchange data showed. The index had closed 1.02% and 2.32% higher on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
Conglomerate Expolanka Holdings Plc and Lanka IOC Plc were the top drags on Friday, falling 4.4% and 6.9%, respectively.
Trading volume on the CSE All-Share index fell to 41.3 million shares from 58.9 million in the previous session.
The equity market’s turnover was 1.01 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($2.78 million), according to exchange data.
Foreign investors were net buyers in the equity market, purchasing 141.6 million rupees of shares, while domestic investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 1 billion rupees, data showed.
