India Central Bank chief tests positive for COVID-19

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das said he had tested positive for the coronavirus.

“I have tested Covid-19 positive. Asymptomatic. Feeling very much alright,” Das said in a tweet.

He added: Have alerted those who came in contact in recent days. Will continue to work from isolation. Work in RBI will go on normally. I am in touch with all Dy. Govs and other officers through VC and telephone.”

Several Indian politicians including Home Minister Amit Shah and actors such as Amitabh Bachchan have tested positive for the virus, and since recovered.

After the US, the worst affected countries are Brazil, India, Mexico and Britain, while Colombia is the latest country to record 1 million confirmed coronavirus cases.
