Velan Swamigal stresses on Tamil nationalist unity
The arrest of civil rights Activist and religious leader Velan Swamigal by the Sri Lankan authorities for taking part in a peaceful protest during Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremasinghe’s recent visit to Jaffna.
He was released on bail on Wednesday.
MP C. V. Wgneswaran condemned the arrest of Thavathiru Velan Swamigal and slammed Sri Lanka’s President.
The former Northern Province Chief Minister said the president “is not serious about solving the root causes of Sri Lanka’s default. A government repressing dissent creates political and financial instability.”
After being released on bail, Velan Swamigal spoke to the media alongside prominent Tamil politicians and lawyers, M. A. Sumanthiran, V. Manivannan and K. Sugash.
