US state sec Pompeo reveals stance on MCC

The United States of America has hinted that there will be many more projects for the Government of Sri Lanka to engage with the US, apart from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement.

US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo said during his visit to Sri Lanka, that the MCC agreement is one of many projects that have been proffered to Sri Lanka.

“If it doesn’t make sense for Sri Lanka, then Sri Lankans will choose not to accept it’, he said.

The top US official further said that the relationships, depths, and complexity of the relationship between the two countries far exceeds that of any one transaction or any one opportunity.

“There will be plenty of opportunities. We will work closely on them alongside the Sri Lankan Government’, he added.

US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, who concluded a 2-day official visit to Sri Lanka today, made the observation during an interview with Ada Derana.
