Asvesuma: Fair chance to plantation sector — WB tells Mano Ganesan

COLOMBO: “The World bank will proceed with the ‘Asvesuma’ welfare benefits scheme with fair opportunities to the marginalized plantation families,” assured WB country director Faris Hadas Zervos to TPA leader Mano Ganesan MP.

Ganesan, in a media brief after his meeting with WB country director at WB Colombo office today, said they mutually agreed to meet again for more official discussion to make that Plantation sector is not left out.

Ganesan said: “We brought the severe poverty and food insecurity realities in plantations in the districts from NuwaraEliya to Avissawella in Colombo including Badulla, Kandy, Matale, Ratnapura, Kegalle, Kalutara, Kurunagala, Galle, Matara and Monaragala to the notices of World Bank.”

Mano Ganesan led his team with TPA’s N’Eliya MP UdayaKumar, Kandy MP VeluKumar and HillCountry civil activist Goutham Balachandran.
