‘India has been repeatedly told of our woes and aspirations’
COLOMBO: Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) changed it’s earlier decision of writing to Indian PM Narendra Modi as SriLankan President Ranil Wickremasinghe prepares to visit New Delhi, TPA leader Mano Ganesan MP said.
Ganesan refused to elaborate the reasons behind the change of mind.
However, he said Indians have been repeatedly told of “our woes and aspirations.”
“In fact, India has it’s own shared obligations and moral responsibilities towards the Indian Origin Malaiyaga Tamils in SriLanka. This is derived from the infamous 1964 Sirimavo-Shastri repatriation Pact.
“We feel that we must take such with GoI and not of the responsibilities of GoSL.”
