Health Ministry reveals details of 22nd Covid related death

A 68-year-old woman from Jampettah Street in Colombo has been reported as the 22nd Covid-related death to be reported in Sri Lanka.

The Ministry of Health said that the woman had died due to a sudden illness at her residence on Sunday (01).

However, PCR tests conducted during the post mortem examination had confirmed that the patient had contracted the coronavirus.

The Health Ministry said that a family member of the deceased had been identified as a Covid patient recently, while the remaining members of the family were home quarantined.

The post mortem conducted by the Judicial Medical officer had revealed that the woman had died as result of Covid pneumonia.
