Diana Gamage wins crucial court case

COLOMBO: The Court of Appeal dismissed a petition challenging Diana Gamage’s Parliamentary seat as State Minister of Tourism.

The writ petition had been filed seeking an order declaring State Minister Diana Gamage was not qualified to be an MP.

Taking up for hearing the petition, the Court of Appeal dismissed it based on a majority decision of the three-judge bench.

The writ petition challenging State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage’s citizenship and right to hold a Parliamentary seat was filed by civil activist Oshala Herath.

The petition seeks a ruling that Diana Gamage was unqualified to serve as a Member of the Sri Lankan Parliament due to her British citizenship.
