Ministry closely monitoring COVID sub-variant ‘JN.1’

Health Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana has ensured that the Ministry closely monitors the emergence of the novel COVID-19 sub-variant ‘JN1’ reported from India.

While acknowledging that no cases have been reported from the sample tests conducted thus far, Pathirana urged the public to adhere to the health practices established during the previous waves of COVID-19.

Furthermore, the Minister announced that preparations have been finalized for a vaccination program to control the resurgence of the measles disease across the country.

Accordingly, the program is scheduled to commence next week and will be administered nationwide by the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) Offices.
