MPs to debate Budget 2021 for 21 days

COLOMBO:  The Speaker of Parliament announced that the Committee on Parliamentary Business has decided to debate the Appropriation Bill for 2021 for 21 days in reparation of the press release stating 19 days.

This was stated in a post of the official Twitter account of the Parliament of Sri Lanka.

Earlier reports said the Committee on Parliamentary Business held a meeting on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

The Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardena, The Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa, Chief Government Whip Johnston Fernando, Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella, Ministers Prasanna Ranatunga, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Prof. GL Peiris, Dullas Alahapperuma, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Ali Sabry, Mahinda Samarasinghe, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Rauff Hakeem, Gayantha Karunatilleka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, M. A. Sumanthiran, Dilan Perera, Mano Ganesan as well as the Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake and Deputy Secretary General and Chief of Staff Neil Iddawela were also present.

Parliamentary sittings will be held daily from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on the dates scheduled for the Budget debate.
