US envoy discuss plans for elections

US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie J. Chung, has met with the members of Sri Lanka’s Election Commission, including its chairman, Mr. R. M. A. L. Rathnayake.
In a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), the Ambassador said the meeting was held to discuss the plans to hold the upcoming elections in Sri Lanka and to “uphold a transparent process.”
“As Sri Lanka, the US, and many countries face elections this year, we exchanged views on the importance of voting in free and fair elections as a pillar of democratic governance,” she said.
