Sri Lanka Netball Captain Tharjini marries Indian businessman Prasad in Chennai
Former Sri Lanka Netball Captain Tharjini Sivalingam tied the knot with R. Prasad, a well-known Indian businessman, in a ceremony held in Chennai on Monday. The event saw the attendance of many Sri Lankan netball players, friends, and well-wishers.
At 45 years old, Tharjini is celebrated as one of the most successful shooters in the history of netball, and she holds the distinction of being the tallest player ever in the sport. She also holds the record for the most international appearances for Sri Lanka.
Since her debut in 2009, Tharjini has been an essential part of the Sri Lankan national team, competing in numerous international tournaments. Her exceptional height has made her a prominent figure in Sri Lankan netball, securing her position among the country’s top players.
Tharjini represented Sri Lanka in the Netball World Cup in 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023, as well as in the Asian Netball Championships in 2009, 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2022.
She made history by becoming the oldest player to compete in the Netball World Cup at age 40 in 2019, and then breaking her own record by competing again at age 44 in 2023.
