Pillayan to back Ranil at presidential poll

Leader of the Thamil Makkal Viduthalaip Puligal (TMVP) State Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias ‘Pillayan’ has stated that both he and his party will support President Ranil Wickremesinghe during the upcoming Presidential Election.

President Wickremesinghe has discussed this with Pillayan and his party members at their headquarters in the Batticaloa area.

During the meeting, the former LTTE paramilitary leader turned politician assured that he and his party would support the incumbent Head of State in the upcoming presidential election.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the leader of the Tamil United Freedom Front (TUFF), former MP Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan alias ‘Karuna Amman’, also confirmed that he and his party would support President Wickremesinghe at the presidential poll.

The former LTTE commander turned politician revealed this while speaking to reporters at the opening of the United National Party (UNP) office in Panadura on Wednesday.
