Genocide allegation rejected

Sri Lanka vehemently reiterates its rejection of the allegation of genocide in Sri Lanka in the statement issued on 23 July 2024 by the Canadian Prime Minister.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this in a statement.

It said Sri Lanka’s position on this matter had been previously reiterated to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

This allegation arising from local domestic vote bank politics in Canada is not conducive to unity and communal harmony in Sri Lanka and Canada, said the statement.
