Sri Lanka’s New Cabinet to Take Oath Tomorrow
The new government’s Cabinet Ministers will be sworn in tomorrow (Nov. 18) at 10:00 a.m. before President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).
National People’s Power (NPP) senior spokesman Tilvin Silva previously announced that the Cabinet would be streamlined to 25 members or fewer, with a scientific approach to assigning ministry responsibilities.
Meanwhile, the inaugural session of the Tenth Parliament, composed of members elected in the 2024 General Election held on November 14, is scheduled to convene on November 21. This follows the issuance of Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2403/13 on September 24, 2024.
The NPP achieved a historic victory in Friday’s (Nov. 15) Parliamentary elections, winning a commanding two-thirds majority with 159 seats, setting a new record in Sri Lanka’s electoral history.
