Vesak ‘Dansal’ guidelines issued

The Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors’ Union has announced the commencement of the registration process for the upcoming Vesak season, with the registration of ‘Dansal’ being the first event to be registered.
Chamil Muthukuda, the Secretary of the Association, emphasised the importance of carrying out the relevant registration activities at Medical Officer of Health (MOH) offices in the area where the ‘Dansal’ is being organised.
He stressed that all registration activities for ‘Dansal’ must be completed before 9 May.
Secretary Muthukuda further advised anyone intending to organise a ‘Dansal’ anywhere across the island to obtain necessary instructions and complete the registration process through their local MOH office. He urged all organisers to meet with the Public Health Inspector (PHI) in their respective area and visit the MOH office to ensure that all required health guidelines are followed for a safe and hygienic ‘Dansal’.
Given the prevailing rainy weather conditions in several parts of the country, Muthukuda also noted that special attention is being paid to the safety and quality of food provided at these events.
He explained that all ‘Dansal’ will be subject to inspections by Public Health Inspectors, which will include pre-event assessments and evaluations conducted on the day of food distribution.
Muthukuda emphasised the importance of special focus on water quality and the overall hygiene of the distribution site before the commencement of activities.
