Sri Lanka stock market gains strength
COLOMBO: Sri Lanka stocks closed 1.39 percent higher on Tuesday, Economy Next reported.
The market was boosted by index-heavy counters Hatton National Bank, Browns Investment and HNB Finance, Colombo Stock Exchange provisional data showed.
Colombo’s All Share Price Index gained 1.39 percent or 90.24 points to close at 6,564.00, Economy Next added.
The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks gained 2.41 percent or 62.12 points to 2,644.87.
The market turnover was 4.2 billion rupees with 134 stocks gaining and 72 falling.
Hatton National Bank contributed most to ASPI’s gain, gaining 7.10 rupees a share to trade at 132.80 rupees a share.
Brown Investments gained 20 cents to trade at 3.00 rupees a share and HNB Finance gained 1.90 rupees to trade at 11.50 rupees also contributing to the ASPI gain.
Commercial Bank gained 1.10 rupees to trade at 84.50 rupees a share, DFCC bank gained 1.20 rupees a share to trade at 67.60 rupees a share and Sampath Bank gained 3.30 rupees to trade at 139.10 rupees a share.
