‘No foul play’ in VJ Chitra’s death, Chennai police say quoting doctors who performed postmortem
CHENNAI: Doctors who performed a postmortem on the body of video jockey and television actress K Chitra (VJ Chitra) on Thursday confirmed that suicide was the reason for her death and that there was no foul play, police said.
Chitra’s mother, Vijaya Kamaraj, had told reporters that her daughter had been beaten to death by her son-in-law, Hemnath. She demanded that police conduct a fair investigation and reveal the truth.
The postmortem was conducted in Kilpauk Medical College Hospital by two doctors in the presence of police officers on Thursday morning. Later, the body was handed over to her family members.
The “Pandian Stores” actress was found hanging in a hotel room at Nazarethpet, where she was staying with her husband, in the early hours of Wednesday.
