21,900 kilos of illegally smuggled raw turmeric destroyed

Nearly 21,900 kilos of raw turmeric that was illegally smuggled into Sri Lanka from India via sea was destroyed today.

According to Ada Derana, the stock of raw turmeric was seized by Police after it was smuggled in via a multiday fishing trawler on Sunday (27).

The Police said the illegal stock of raw turmeric was reportedly destroyed today at the crematorium in Lunama, Ambalantota.
