Basil Rajapaksa highlights Sri Lanka’s vaccine goals
COLOMBO: The target is to make Sri Lanka the first country to complete the COVID-19 vaccination, said Basil Rajapaksa, head of the Presidential Task Force for Economic Revival and Poverty Alleviation,
He was speaking at the “Gama Samaga Pilisandara” sub committee meeting.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that the COVID-19 vaccine will be made available to private and public sector employees as well as the general public by mid-February, which was endorsed by State Minister for COVID-19 Prevention Sudarshini Fernandopulle.
Meanwhile, it was stated that plans are made to provide electricity and water to all houses in Sri Lanka by the Sinhala and Tamil New Year this year.
“We have identified about 350,000 houses without electricity at the beginning of our tenure and it has been reduced to 125,000,” stated Minister Duminda Dissanayake.
Basil Rajapaksa has instructed authorities to inspect all houses without electricity and water and to implement steps for provision of electricity by April 2021.
