Digitization of judicial system to commence at 42 courts
COLOMBO: The digitization of the judicial system would be commenced at 42 courts and then would be expanded toward the other courts under four phases, Justice Minister Ali Sabry said in a report published by @TheMorningLK.
During a visit to Hambantota to inspect the facilities at courts, the minister said the people should be able to receive the benefits of the digitization and the development of infrastructure facilities.
The minister said five committees have been appointed to look into the reforms in the judiciary and added the lawyers can also submit their proposals to these committees.
Meanwhile, he said the number of employees at the Government Analyst’s Department had been increased in order to enhance the efficiency of the department.
“We hope to establish offices of the Analyst’s Department in the North Central and the Southern provinces as well,” he said.
The minister also said two more new courts should be established to hear the court cases in Hambantota and Tissamaharama areas.
Minister Chamal Rajapaksa, President’s Counsel U. R . De Silva, Additional Secretary Lakshmi Kumari and others were also present.
