Upper oil tank farms in Trincomalee: India’s position
COLOMBO: The spokesperson of the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka has responded to media queries on joint development of Upper Oil Tank Farms in Trincomalee,
“India and Sri Lanka have identified energy partnership as one of the priority dimensions of their cooperation. India is committed to working together with Sri Lanka for the island’s energy security,” the spokesperson said.
“In this context, consultation and discussions have been undertaken to promote mutually beneficial cooperation for development and operation of the Upper Oil Tank Farms in Trincomalee.
“We look forward to continuing our productive engagement with Sri Lanka in this regard,” the spokesperson added.

Gammanpila says successful discussions were held with Indian High Commissioner Gopal Bagley to reacquire the Trincomalee oil tank darm.
Minister Gammanpila confirmed this to the media during an event held in Kolonnawa, Newsfirst dot lk reported.
He added that the high commissioner to Sri Lanka was in agreement with all conditions put forward by Sri Lanka regarding the matter.
“They agreed to leave aside the conditions of the agreement reached in 2017 regarding the oil tank farm and go forward with the conditions we provided,” said the Minister.
