Sri Lankan and Chinese Foreign Ministers discuss bilateral issues as UNHRC progress
Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardene and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi today had a bilateral discussion over a telephone call, Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka announced.
“State Councilor & FM Wang Yi spoke with FM Dinesh Gunawardena over telephone on a range of topics covering bilateral and international cooperation, at the beginning of Chinese New Year and the sidelines of UNHRC meeting,” the embassy said in a twitter message.
The discussion took place while Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was completing his two day official visit to Colombo inviting Sri Lanka to join Chinese Pakistan Economic Corridor to access Central Asian markets.
The discussion was.also significant as it was held a day after Sri Lankan Foreign Minister asked member states of the UNHRC to reject resolutions against Sri Lanka.
