Trump says he has no plans to form third party

Former US President Donald Trump told a conservative audience he has no plans to start a new party to compete with the Republican Party, Reuters reported.

Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Florida, Trump called reports that he was plotting a form a third party “fake news.”

Trump has clashed with Republicans who rejected his bid to overthrow the presidential election and supported his impeachment.

Trump hinted at another run for the White House in 2024 while repeating his discredited claims that Democrats “stole” the 2020 election.

“I’m going to continue to fight right by your side. We’re not starting new parties,” he said.

“We have the Republican Party. It’s going to be strong and united like never before.”
