Cabinet approves to build West Container Terminal with India’s Adani group

Cabinet of Ministers last night approved to build and develop West Container Terminal of the Colombo Port with India’s Adani group.

Ministers approved proposal submitted by Minister of Port and Shipping to Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) project for the WTC with India’s Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited and it’s local partner John Keells Holdings, a government statment said.

Sri Lanka submitted proposed plan for both India and Japan, however latter did not name an investment partner.

The project will be for 35 years on the BOT basis.
