OIC Secretary General, President of Sri Lanka Review Situation of Muslims in Sri Lanka
Jeddah, March 21: Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen received a phone call today from President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
During the phone conversation, they reviewed the existing relations between the OIC and Sri Lanka as well as the situation of the Muslim community in Sri Lanka.
For his part, Al-Othaimeen praised the Sri Lankan President’s willingness to open up and reach out to the international organizations, welcoming the decision of the Government of Sri Lanka on the right of Muslims to bury their dead in accordance with the Islamic rituals.
He reaffirmed the OIC’s keenness to follow up the conditions of Muslim communities and defend their rights in non-OIC member states
