Delhi Capitals in tense win over Mumbai Indians
Veteran spinner Amit Mishra took four key wickets as Delhi Capitals secured a tense win over Mumbai Indians in their Indian Premier League final rematch, AFP reported.
The 38-year-old Mishra’s brilliant bowling helped restrict the reigning champions to 137 for nine off their 20 overs in Chennai, AFP reported.
Shikhar Diwan hit a stubborn 45 to guide Delhi to a six wicket victory that took the capital side to joint top in the IPL alongside Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Diwan now heads the IPL batting rankings with 231 runs from three games, AFP reported.
But finding runs hard to come by after Diwan’s departure, Delhi needed a final unbeaten 33 stand by Lalit Yadav (22) and Shimron Hetmyer (14) to secure the win with five balls to spare, AFP reported.
Mumbai won the last five games between the two sides, including last year’s final in Dubai to secure their fifth title, and captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat this time.
