Easter attack: ‘All those responsible will be brought to justice’
COLOMBO: Measures are being taken to bring all those who are responsible to the heinous Easter Sunday attack which brought death to 259 and injured hundreds of innocent people before justice, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa told Parliament.
He said that the government has taken all possible measures to prevent the recurrence of an unfortunate situation as such.
he said that legal documents with regard to the investigations into the attack had already been referred to the attorney general based on the report and other documents prepared on the information revealed by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Easter attacks.
“Though we do not wish to intervene in the judicial process, I wish to state that as a government we are ready to provide any assistance required for the success of this process of judiciary,” the prime minister said.
Parliament observed one-minute silence in remembrance of the victims of Easter Sunday terror attacks.
The silence was observed on the request of Prime Minister Rajapaksa.
