‘Irresponsible behavior’ blamed for COVID-19 surge

COLOMBO: Around 1,890 COVID-19 positive cases have been detected during the past four days countrywide.

This can be attributed to the careless and irresponsible behavior of people which has led to the present rise in the number of cases, said Sri Lanka PHIs’ Association Chairman Upul Rohana.

Speaking to the media in Kurunegala, he said several areas in the Kurunegala District have been isolated after a number of COVID-19 positive cases were detected. Rohana said all Sri Lankans including politicians irrespective of their various differences have to assist the Government in controlling the fast spreading COVID-19 pandemic in our country.

Four more deaths reported due to COVID-19, raising the death toll to 642, the Department of Government Information said on Saturday.
