Supreme Court decides certain clauses in Port City Economic Commission Bill unconstitutional

Certain clauses in the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill are proven to be unconstitutional, the Supreme Court has decided.

Accordingly, the Supreme Court concludes that the Bill should be passed in Parliament with a two-thirds majority and a referendum.

After taking the petitions filed against the Bill into account, the Supreme Court’s verdict has been conveyed to the Speaker, and he has announced the Supreme Court’s conclusion at the House today (18).
