Sinopharm vaccine donated by Chinese people boosts Jaffna inoculation drive
COLOMBO: “We are proud and encouraged to see that 50,000 Jaffna inhabitants have started their vaccination with Sinopharm vaccine donated by Chinese people last week.”
The above was stated in a Twitter post on Sunday by the Chinese Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Also on Sunday, Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa earlier inspected the Vaccination Center, established at the Sri Naratha School in Karaweddy West, under the Vaccination Program against COVID-19 throughout the Jaffna District.
The government’s special resettlement facilitation officer for the North and East, Geethanath Kassilingam earlier said that 12 vaccination centers were being allocated from Sunday and those above the age of 30 will be eligible to receive their jabs.
“It will begin from areas which have been identified as ‘high risk’ and the centers will rotate during the weeks,” Kassilingam said.
