TNA and Indian diplomats discuss 13th Amendment
COLOMBO: India has reiterated its longstanding support for the reconciliation in Sri Lanka that addresses aspirations of the Tamil community for equality, justice, peace and dignity within the framework of a united Sri Lanka and in accordance with the 13th Amendment.
The assurance came as High Commissioner Gopal Baglay received a delegation of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) on Thursday, according to a Twitter post of the Indian mission in Colombo.
A 5-member TNA delegation led by R. Sampanthan, MP, called on High Commissioner at the India House on Thursday.
Discussions on devolution and development in Sri Lanka including in the Northern and Eastern Provinces were held, said the Twitter post.
The High Commissioners was assisted by Deputy High Commissioner Vinod K. Jacob and Political Counsellor Banu Prakash were also present.
The TNA delegation apprised the High Commissioner on progress regarding the Provincial Council elections which constitutes an integral part of Sri Lankan polity and Constitution.
