COVID-19: India reports 724 new deaths in the last 24 hours

India reported on Monday 37,154 new COVID-19 cases and 724 new deaths in the last 24 hours, data from Health Ministry showed.

Just 5 per center India’s 1.4 billion people fully vaccinated, while about 20% have had a first dose.

Nations across the globe hit new pandemic highs and reimposed COVID-19 restrictions this week as the highly contagious Delta variant forced governments to put the brakes on plans to return to normality.

The highly transmissible Delta variant, first detected in India, is sweeping the globe as countries race to inoculate their populations to ward off fresh outbreaks and allow for economies and daily life to recover.

The EU — lambasted early on in the pandemic response for a botched vaccine acquisition program — said on Saturday it had delivered enough shots to cover 70 percent of the bloc’s population.
