Reported coronavirus cases in India pass 6 million

India’s Health Ministry says reported coronavirus cases in the country have surpassed 6 million.

With 6.1 million infections as of Monday according to the ministry, India is on course to pass the US as the country with the most infections in the coming weeks.

India has also recorded close to 100,000 deaths.

The global coronavirus death toll has passed 1 million, AFP reported on Monday.

The deadly disease emerged less than a year ago in China and has swept around the globe.

The US has the highest death toll with more than 200,000 fatalities followed by Brazil, India, Mexico and Britain.
