‘Fake news’: Trump dismisses NYT tax allegations
US President Donald Trump has dismissed a New York Times report that he paid just $750 in federal income taxes in 2016, the year he won the election.
“It’s totally fake news, made up, fake,” Trump said, AFP reported.
His remarks came shortly after the paper published multiple allegations over his tax payments, citing tax return data extending more than 20 years.
The president is readying to come face to face with his Democratic opponent Joe Biden at a pivotal live debate on Tuesday.
Trump has worked for decades to build an image of himself as a hugely successful business mogul.
