Veteran actress Hyacinth Wijeratne dies in road accident

July 31, Colombo: Veteran actress Hyacinth Wijeratne has died in a car accident that took place last night (July 30), the police said.

The police said the van she was travelling in had fallen down a precipice on the Nuwara Eliya – Talawakelle road at Lindula in Talawakelle.

Reportedly, Wijeratne, who was in Nuwara-Eliya for filming a teledrama, was returning to Colombo when the accident happened.

Mrs. Hyacinth Wijeratne was 75 years old at the time of her death.

Lindula Police have arrested the driver of the van over the accident.
