Should extend lockdown for 2 more weeks : Sudarshini (Video)

State Minister of Primary Health Care, Pandemics and COVID-19 Disease Control (Dr) Sudarshini Fernandopulle says that the lockdown should be extended for two more weeks.

Speaking to the media today (01), she said that although the final decision remains with the COVID-19 Task Force, and her personal opinion is that it should be extended for two more weeks in view of the increase of COVID-19 patients.

“I remember back in January Prof. Neelika Malavige said that although it was found via PCR testing that 14% of the population within the CMC area was positive, the real number of infected persons is at least nine times larger than that amount, ” She said.

She added that while only around 5,000 patients are being reported daily, it is entirely possible that over 50,000 patients are confirmed positive with the spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19.
