PM: May Deepavali mark beginning of better future for all Sri Lankans
COLOMBO: Sri Lanka is in a steady development path, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said in his Deepavali message.
He said: “Overcoming numerous obstacles, Sri Lanka is in a steady development path as intended by the state policy “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendor.”
It is all Sri Lankans’ aspiration and ambition that our nation will be prosperous.
Every nation on earth is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and we as a nation has carried out number of effective activities to protect our people.
It is with great pleasure that I extend my greetings to all Hindu devotees who celebrate Deepavali around the world.
Deepavali is a celebration of the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and, knowledge over ignorance attained by persistent spirituality, great devotion and faith.
If there is light ahead in a dark path, there is always a hope.
As illuminated lamps expel the darkness, we should dispel the ignorance within us and unfold the mindfulness.
The light that shines on this special day should be seen as a signal for a better understanding among the communities.
May this Deepavali Day mark the beginning of a better future for all Sri Lankans as a prosperous nation, fulfilling the wishes of all.
“I wish you all a Happy Deepavali,” said the prime minister.
