‘Flight of peace’: First direct commercial flight of Israel aircraft to UAE praised

The Israeli press has given an emotional thumbs-up to the first commercial flight of an Israeli aircraft direct to the UAE, according to news reports.

“The flight of peace” was the front page headline in the Yediot Aharonot daily, alongside a picture of a UAE official clad in a white traditional thobe, standing by the cabin door of El Al flight 971, AFP reported.

Clearly visible was the word “peace” written in Arabic, English and Hebrew above the cockpit window.

An Israeli delegation is in Abu Dhabi on a historic trip to finalize a pact marking open relations between Israel and the UAE.

Israel and the UAE agreed on Tuesday to set up a joint committee to cooperate on financial services, aiming to promote investment between the two countries, media reports said.
