Sri Lanka govt denies fuel shortage claims
COLOMBO: Highways Minister Johnston Fernando stated in parliament that there is sufficient oil in Sri Lanka at the present.
He made these observations in response to a query made by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.
The minister said that there is no shortage of fuel too in the country, urging people not to panic and be deluded by speculations.
Energy Minister Udaya Prabath Gammanpila earlier assured that the temporary closure of Sapugaskanda oil refinery will not cause any fuel shortage in the country.
Gammanpila said the public should not panic about any crude oil shortage, as crude oil is only used by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
