Priyantha Kumara death: Investigation report sought from Pakistan Foreign Ministry
COLOMBO: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan told Sri Lanka’s president that more than 100 people have been detained in the lynching of a Sri Lankan factory manager and suspects will be “prosecuted with the full severity of the law.”
Imran Khan said in a tweet that he spoke to Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa by phone to convey the country’s anger and shame and assure him that justice would be done for Friday’s “vigilante killing” of Priyantha Kumara.
The human remains of Diyawadanage Don Nandasiri Priyantha Kumara will be despatched to Sri Lanka on Dec. 6 through SriLankan Airlines at state cost.
The remains will be received by the next-of-kin at the BIA. The Foreign Ministry is coordinating the matter.
The Sri Lanka High Commission in Islamabad has requested an investigation report from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Pakistan regarding the death of Priyantha Kumara.
The Sri Lanka High Commission in Islamabad, in coordination with the Foreign Ministry, is also in discussions with Pakistan authorities and the employer of Priyantha Kumara regarding payment of compensation.
