Cake sales significantly ‘dropped during festive season’
The All-Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association says cake sales have significantly decreased during the Christmas festive season this year compared to the corresponding period 2022.
According to the president of the association, N.K. Jayawardena, cake sales have dropped by at least 50 percent in 2023.
He attributed the situation to the skyrocketing sugar, eggs, and other raw materials prices.
Meanwhile, the price of 1 kilogram of green chilies has risen exorbitantly and now stands at a rate ranging between Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 1,300.
